All by Myself THURSDAY afternoons, from 1:30 - 2:45 PM. Creative art projects are designed around a story, song, or theme. Children explore a variety of materials to create their unique art. The students will bring home many beautiful art pieces; this is a process-based class. This is a fantastic opportunity for more social time with friends.

Join our Tuesday afternoon sewing circle to learn hand-stitching techniques while chatting with friends. You will learn how to make a friendship bracelet, embroidery, finger weave, stitch mini-masterpieces, and sew with a needle and thread. You will also learn different hand-stitching techniques while creating something to wear or use.

We will not meet on December 24th or 31st.

Join us for CARDBOARD CREATIONS. Join us for the endless possibilities of creating with cardboard. We will do open-ended projects. Make a mini pinata, a box city with your friends, a mask, and much more. In our Cardboard Creations, we will paint, glue, cut, construct, tape, and more to create all things cardboard. It’s all about the process. Bring your creativity and imagination.

Children love to make books. The students will make several kinds of books in this class: small accordion books, art books that we sew or bind, a book in a box, and more. Your artist can fill their books with drawings, stories, and poems or give beautiful books as gifts.

Join us to dye fabric and yarn to make significant and small soft sculptures with our dyed fabric. Learn basic sewing stitches and use them to stitch and create with material, make a Me-Pillow, a portrait quilt for a lovey or pet, and pom-poms.

Animals in Art  - Discover how great artists depicted animals in their work. We will look at Picasso's birds, Klee's cat, and more. This class runs for 10 weeks from 4:00-5:00.

We are thrilled to offer a new class involving social justice and art! In Peace and Art, we will begin to explore art and symbols that represent peace. We will talk about peace, notable people, and look at pieces of art that represent peace. Ages 4-12

We will explore outer space through art-making using different techniques and materials. We will build a rocket ship, make multimedia art pieces of the planets, read the literary favorite, Moon Man by Tomi Ungerer, and more. Ages 4-12

THURSDAY afternoons, September 17 through November 19, 1:30 - 2:45 PM. All by Myself is designed for prekindergarten and kindergarten students who are at school for a half-day. This is a wonderful opportunity for more social time with friends. Art activities are designed around a story, song, or theme. Children explore a variety of materials to create their own unique art.  While the students will bring home many beautiful pieces of art, this is a process-based class.

This class is will be taught by long-time teacher Jennifer Ross.

Should it become necessary to stay at home (oh please, please, I don’t want this to happen), I will provide an art kit every week in lieu of our class.

In order to keep everyone safe and healthy, we will practice social distancing, frequent handwashing and the children will not share supplies.

This 10-week class meets for an hour and fifteen minutes. Ages 4-6

Join us and use clay to create beautiful and usable pieces of art while learning hand-building techniques. We will create a clay project each week from pinch and coil pots, a whistle, and more. The clay creations will be fired and glazed.

This is a 10-week series. Should it become necessary to stay at home (oh please, please, I don’t want this to happen), I will provide an art kit every week in lieu of our class.

Pet Parade  - This class celebrates pets, both real and imagined, should you have a cat, dog, fish or pet chickens or wish you had a pet dragon. We will draw our pets, make pet beds, blankets, pillows, food bowls, and more. This class runs for 10 weeks from 4:00-5:00.

For ages 4-12.

Join us and use clay to create beautiful and usable pieces of art while learning hand-building techniques. We will create a clay project each week and build on what students have learned in the prior class. The clay creations will be fired and glazed. We will not have class on December 27 or January 3.

Hammer Nail and Drill is a class where we use hand tools to drill holes, nail nails and create with wood, yarn and fabric. The children will begin to develop confidence with the hand tools and use them safely. Each child will build a birdhouse or bat house to take home. This class is on Thursday from 4:00- 5:00, for ages 4-12. This class runs for three weeks and begins on December 5.

Ages 4-12

Create a whimsical papier-mache unicorn to display in your child’s room or house. This is our biggest project in the Big Project Series and take several steps to complete. We will create the unicorn from newspaper, work with papier-mache, paint the unicorn and them add details….eyelashes, necklaces…anything your child can dream up.

Ages 4-12

Play with scale and turn everyday objects into small scale art pieces. Create miniature pieces to decorate a doll house, diorama or just for fun. Dream in small scale to create 3D pieces.

Ages 4-12

Each week we will send the hour drawing. We will draw fruit and vegetables from still life, flowers and bird’s nests from nature and animals. We will learn how to add shade and shadow to create the illusion of volume and depth. We will draw 3D boxes, cubes and spheres and learn how to incorporate them into buildings or interiors.

We will not meet on October 20th.

Ages 4-12

Animals and Flowers in Art  - Discover how great artists depicted animals in their work. We are adding flowers to this class and will look at and create a beautiful flower by Georgia O’Keeffe, Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh, animals and plants by Audubon and more. We will look works of art not covered in previous classes. This class runs for 10 weeks from 4:00-5:00. We will not meet on March 28 or April 18. We will have a make-up class on May 23 should the need arise.

For ages 4-12.

Each child will build a MASON BEE HOUSE to take home to attract mason bees in their yard at home. This class is on Friday from 4:00 - 5:00 for ages 4-12. This class begins on Friday, November 9 and runs for three weeks. We will not meet on Friday, November 23rd. 

MONDAY afternoons, November 27 through February 25 3 - 4 PM. Monday Afternoon Art is designed for prekindergarten and kindergarten students who are at school for a half day. An hour long class, students will create at their own pace with the materials provided.  Grown ups may spend the hour here at Sky Soup, or not, depending on the comfort level of your child. This class meets 10 times.  For ages 3-6.

We will not meet on December 24, December 31, January 21 or February 18.
