This Ceramics Week is specifically for tweens. We will meet in the afternoon from 1:00-4:00. We will learn the different hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab rolling to create functional pieces and quickly progress to more complicated pieces. We will glaze the pieces that we make.
Ages 9-12
Treehouse Camp: Spend the week designing and building the treehouse of your dreams with wood scraps, cardboard, fabric, and more. Each artist/designer/architect will take their treehouse home at the end of the week. We will not meet on July 4th.

HOUSE DESIGN! We begin the week by reading a literary favorite, The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater.
Each artist will be given a large wooden house to design and all materials to implement their design. Your artist will first imagine what kind of house it will be….a haunted house, a house for the luckiest pet ever, a castle house, a survival…, whatever you can think of. We will spend the week designing rooms, painting, making wallpaper, furniture, and more. This project is for boys and girls alike.

Creatures That Fly Our focus will be on butterflies, birds, and bats for any bat lovers. We will turn our drawings into 3D winged creatures using papier-mache, sculpt the lifecycle of a butterfly with clay and fire it, and paint beautiful winged creatures. We will make large butterfly wings from cardboard and fly around Narberth.

Other kiddos put a Marvel spin on things and create their superhero. If that’s your child, we will turn the wooden mannequins into superheroes or sheroes, design and assemble outfits for your artist’s figure, claim a superpower, and more. Come in and create whatever makes you happy!

Turn an extra-large box into a playhouse or fort, make a box city with your friends, decorate giant donuts, and assemble a group cardboard sculpture. In our Cardboard Creations Camp, we will paint, glue, cut, construct, tape, and more to create all things cardboard. It’s all about the process. Bring your creativity and imagination.

Printmaking for Tweens Join us for a week-long afternoon session of printmaking. We will print with Gelli plates, use found objects to make prints, print with gauze, silkscreen a t-shirt, and much more. Artists will have a portfolio of framable pieces to take home at the end of the week.

Unicorns, Mermaids, and Dragons Camp includes all the fantasy creatures we love to create, tell stories, and read about….unicorns, mermaids, and dragons. We will make a unicorn horn to wear, a mermaid pillow, a papier-mache dragon, dragon eggs, and more if time permits. Imaginary play will be big this week. We will dance across the stage, put on plays, and bring out the puppet theater. Ages 4-12: Bring your creativity and imagination.
